When the clock strikes midnight and we all look to the new year for a fresh start, many of us set goals and for the majority of Australian’s, health and fitness resolutions feature heavily. Whilst this is great, particularly if you are in the business of facilitating such goals, the majority of us fall short of achieving them. Now this may sound rather pessimistic but I would like to shine a light on why we fall short, and how to make goal setting more realistic and achievable.
The number one mistake in my opinion, is over committing which ultimately leads to under delivering. Setting smaller more achievable health and fitness goals that are broken into three monthly time frames will set you on a better trajectory for success. Breaking goals up into short term goals, makes it easier to regularly review them, ensuring you are on the right track to achieve them. Being open to change, improvement and adjustment, always being honest with yourself and not making excuses, will enable you to kick those goals and enjoy a happier, healthier you in 2018.
